Matakana Essentials was created with a simple idea: to bring together the best of Aotearoa’s native botanicals and modern skincare science.
Developed at our headquarters in Matakana, New Zealand, our range draws on natural environment and rich plant life. We use organic, bioactive ingredients such as kawakawa, mānuka honey, and mānuka leaf extract, harvested using traditional and sustainable methods (Tikanga Māori). These ingredients have been carefully selected for their ability to soothe, purify, and hydrate the skin, naturally.

Meet Our Founder
Matakana Essentials was born from Kym’s deep appreciation for harnessing the power of botanicals and the native flora of Matakana — a place where nature and lifestyle are deeply connected.
Of Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāi Te Rangi, and European descent, Kym was inspired by the richness of her heritage.
This foundation sparked a desire to create purposeful home and body products that honour indigenous knowledge and support modern wellbeing.
